In “Good Luck To Us” I moved from the pure instrumentalism of previous work into the more traditional format of lyric/vocal songs. Many of the songs have a driving beat and a hard edge; I placed strong emphasis on guitar work but never in such a way that the guitar(s) become the song. The goal was that the vocal melody be the central feature of the song while being interlocked with the instruments. This album was a lot of fun to write and record because it allowed me to explore how far I could drive the hard-edged sound I was creating while still retaining pop/melodic sensibilities. It was also fun because it allowed me to develop a new lyrical style for myself. I hope you enjoy the album as much as I enjoyed making it.
